Our team works closely with the patient to design a program to meet the patient's specific needs. The individualized program enhances the patient's whole body to include flexibility, strengthening, endurance and cardiovascular fitness.

Our team takes the patient's medical history, current physical condition and lifestyle into consideration when designing the individualized program. The patient will work on equipment to enhance heart function and gradually build a stronger heart. The patient will learn to develop and maintain a lifelong commitment to a healthier lifestyle to promote heart health.
SPEECH THERAPY
Speech therapy is specialty involved in treatment of speech, language, voice, swallowing, cognitive communication and fluency disorders. They can improve deficits associated with impaired thinking, understanding, learning and remembering. Speech language pathologists improve, adapt and maintain abilities to improve quality of life. They are certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association and licensed in Oklahoma.

PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical therapy is a specialty aimed to evaluate and treat disorders affecting gross motor function. The goal is to develop, restore and maintain maximum independence and functional mobility to achieve the highest level of quality of life and prevent physical disabilities from injuries or disease.

WHAT IS CARDIAC REHABILITATION?

Northeastern Health System Cardiac Rehabilitation:
Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program is designed for patients who have suffered from heart disease, including those who have had a heart attack, chest pain or cardiac surgery such as balloon procedures and stent placement. Patients will benefit from a personalized program with a low patient-to-staff ratio. The program focuses on strengthening the heart muscle and improving cardiovascular fitness to help recover from the effects of heart disease.
Who should take part in cardiac rehab?
It is recommended for patients with:

Recent heart attack
-
Stable angina (chest pain)
-
Heart Failure
-
Heart procedures such as stent or angioplasty
Why is this program important?
Patients who enroll in cardiac rehabilitation have more success controlling other cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Our program focuses on the whole patient and equips the patient with the tools and information needed to make healthy changes that are sustainable.
What to expect:
Phase 1 INPATIENT:
Why is this program important?
The purpose of phase 1 is to reduce the effects associated with prolonged bed rest while monitoring cardiac status. Therapy consists of exercise, intermittent sitting, standing and walking.

Phase 2: OUTPATIENT:
Phase 2 typically begins a few weeks after hospital discharge. This phase consists of 1 hour sessions, three times a week for 12 weeks and a weekly education session. There are exceptions to this based on functional performance and insurance benefits.
PELVIC FLOOR THERAPY
For women who have bowel, bladder, sexual dysfunction or pain.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Occupational therapy is a specialty involved with promoting independence by enabling people to adapt a task or environment to achieve maximum independence for quality of life. They focus on fine motor skills and activities of daily living by encompassing many interventions. They can help patients improve their fine motor functions, reasoning abilities and compensation for loss of function.
