Internal Medicine Residency Program
NHS proudly partners with Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences to train Internal Medicine residents in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
​Residents that complete their rotations at our facility can expect to be trained to provide quality patient care in the context of rural, family and community health care in both the hospital and ambulatory care settings.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
As the most comprehensive medical system in Northeastern Oklahoma, the Tahlequah Medical Group (TMG) Internal Medicine Residency at Northeastern Health System trains leaders for careers in hospital based practice, general Internal Medicine and Academia. The program also prepares Residents to proceed to fellowship training. The sponsoring institution of the program is Osteopathic Medical Education Consortium (OMECO).

Residents are offered the unique opportunity to train in a supportive environment. As an unopposed rural Internal Medicine program in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the focus is truly on the growth and development of each Resident.
MISSION STATEMENT:
The TMG/OMECO Internal Medicine Residency Program trains Physicians to provide excellence in healthcare, with an emphasis on providing health care for rural and underserved areas of Oklahoma.
PROGRAM AIMS:
The TMG/OMECO Internal Medicine program will be recognized as the program of choice for rural Internal Medicine training. The program will produce graduates who are dedicated and compassionate community leaders prepared to fulfill the healthcare needs of rural and underserved Oklahoma. Our program will achieve our mission and vision through these specific aims:

Train physicians to practice Internal Medicine in rural, underserved communities, and to lead teams to reduce disparities in health care.

Develop competence in providing primary care, inpatient care, and internal medicine based sub-specialty care.

Instill the professional and ethical standards that focus on patient safety and quality improvement, self-assessment and wellness, self-directed study and leadership skills.

Apply the tenets of osteopathic medicine for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness, disease and injury.

PGY 2 $58,000
PGY 3 $60,000
Authorized Absence
20 days of PTO each year

An educational allowance is provided annually to optimize the educational experience for the resident.
